Claire joined the Central Education Team at Abbey MAT in July 2022 as the Safeguarding and Attendance Lead. Claire is responsible for promoting effective safeguarding, ensuring all schools are well supported, so that children are protected from harm. She is on hand to offer advice, support and direction about child protection and safeguarding issues.
Claire also works closely with the Director of Education to improve attendance across the Trust, focusing on removing barriers to attendance to support a culture of continuous improvement.
Claire is also the Interim Safeguarding and Attendance Lead at Lightcliffe Academy. In this role she is operationally supporting the academy to provide effective safeguarding and working with students who have barriers to attending school regularly.
Claire has previously worked as Attendance Lead and Deputy DSL in a Pupil Referral Unit and has considerable experience of ‘looked after children’ from both personal experience and voluntary work in the adoption field. Claire’s early professional life was as a Project Manager in the banking sector.
